Dziś Maya kończy piąty miesiąc więc poświęcam jej cały wpis :)
Today Maya turns five months so the whole entry will be about her :)
Już w pierwszym dniu okazało się że Maya ma niezłą popularność wśród Koreańczyków niezależnie od płci i wieku.
On the first day of our visit in Korea, it turned out that Maya is pretty popular among Koreans, women, men and even small kids.
Przed przylotem do Korei powtarzałam wszystkim że będę się tu czuła jak Murzyn w Warszawie ( nikogo nie obrażając).
Okazało się że jest inaczej niż przypuszczałam. Tzn. odrobinę można się czuć wyobcowanym ale są tutaj 'biali' i osobiście widuję jednego czy dwóch dziennie jak chodzę po mieście. Na szczęście Koreańczycy są przyzwyczajeni do widoku obcokrajowców więc specjalnej uwagi na mnie nie zwracają. Dowiedziałam się że jak widzą białego to z reguły myślą że to Amerykanin. Jak ktoś się zdarzy mnie zagadać to mówię że jestem z Anglii. Chyba że ktoś zna angielski dobrze i wda się w 'większą' dyskusję wtedy wyjaśniam skąd jestem. Na mnie czy Piotrka jakoś specjalnie uwagi nikt nie zwraca, za to Maya jest bardzo popularna i gdzieklowiek z nią idziemy to wzbudza zainteresowanie. Zdaje się że nie-koreańskie dziecko jest tutaj rzadkością. Bardzo często podchodzą, machają, zagadują (głównie po Koreańsku) albo 'ka-ku-ją' (nasze wołanie 'kuku!' do dziecka to u nich 'kaku!'), czasem się zdarzy ktoś po angielsku zapyta jak ma na imię czy ile ma lat. Mówią że jest ładna jak laleczka, i że słodka, i że ma duże oczy itp. Czasem robią jej zdjęcia, biorą na ręce bez pytania i ma to swoje plusy bo kolacje jadamy o porze takiej że Maya chciałaby już spać - kilka razy się zdarzyło że jedliśmy kolację a młoda, jak to ona, marudziła i stękała, więc właścicielka czy właściciel knajpy brał ją na ręce i zajmował się nią dopóki nie zjedliśmy ;) Taka darmowa niańka.
Before flying here, I was telling everyone that I will feel here a bit uncomfortable with me being white, among Koreans...
It turned out there is nothing to worry about. I mean you can feel a bit strange but there are a few non-Koreans you see here and there so you’re not the only one. Koreans are used to seeing other nationalities here so they don’t really pay so much attention to them. I was told that whenever they see white people, they think they are Americans. If someone happens to ask me, I say we’re from England, unless someone speaks more English then I explain we’re Polish but live in England. They don’t really pay a lot of attention to me or Piotr, but Maya is a real celebrity here. Wherever we go she is in the centre of attention. I think a non-Korean baby is not seen very often here. They wave, smile, stop and chat in Korean, mainly baby talk like “kaku! kaku!”, sometimes they ask in English how old she is or what her name is. They say she is really pretty and cute and sweet and has nice big eyes etc. Sometimes they even take photos of her, or pick her up without asking. It is sort of convenient for us because very often when we eat dinner Maya moans a lot and the owners of the restaurants tend to pick her up and look after her while we eat. Free babysitting!
Obecnie Maya jest na etapie uśmiechania się do wszystkich, i na ręce idzie do każdego. Zobaczymy kiedy jej minie ;)
At the moment she smiles to anyone and will let anyone to pick her up. We’ll see how long it will last!

Maya pobyt znosi dobrze, sypia w nocy dobrze i klimat też jej nie dokucza jakoś specjalnie. Logicznie - jak nam za gorąco to i jej. Jak jesteśmy na zewnątrz to na słońce się nie wystawiamy więc i ona w cieniu przebywa większość czasu, a w cieniu można spokojnie wysiedzieć. Ale wilgoć dokucza czy to w słońcu, czy w cieniu.
Narazie jest na etapie siedzenia z podpieraniem więc giba się na boki lub w przód. Ochota na wstawanie coraz częstsze i w wózku leżeć nie za bardzo chce więc nosidełko BabyBjorn bardzo nam ułatwia życie ;)
Maya is doing really well here in Korea, sleeps pretty well, and the climate is not more of a nuisance to her than to us. If we’re hot, then obviously she’s hot too! When we’re outside, we usually avoid the sun so she also spends most of the time in a shade. But there is nothing we can do about the humidity...
At the moment she sits with support so she tends to sway to one side or the other or even lands on her tummy. She is very keen to get up and doesn’t like lying in her pram so much so our baby carrier BabyBjorn is really useful and helps us a lot ;)
