Kolejny majowy weekend z wolnym poniedziałkiem i wybraliśmy się do Barcelony. Hotel zarezerwowałam jakoś 5 miesięcy wcześniej i zapłaciłam całośc podczas rezerwacji. Hotel który zarezerwowałam nazywał się Hotel Comercio, niedaleko popularnej ulicy Las Ramblas. Jak dotarliśmy na miejsce powiedziano nam że nie mają miejsc (?!) i że mają miejsce dla nas w Hotel Roma Reial (oba hotele to ten sam właściciel i są stosunkowo blisko siebie). Trochę nam się to nie spodobało ale ok, przyjęliśmy do wiadomości i poszliśmy do tego drugiego - Hotel Roma Reial. Hotel znajduje się na Placa Reial, ciekawe miejsce więc lokalizacja nam odpowiadała. I jeśli chodzi o hotel to jedynie lokalizacja była super. Problemem okazał się pokój... to że mały to nie był wielki problem. Pokój miał niewielkie okno które wychodziło na, hmmm, coś w rodzaju szybu czyli ściany z 3 stron i od góry szyba więc nawet nie było wlotu świeżego powietrza, o widokach nie wspomne. Poporosiliśmy o zmianę pokoju ale w recepcji powiedzieli, że nie mają nic wolnego i że jutro będą mieli. Jako że w sumie byliśmy tam na 2 noclegi, stwierdziliśmy że nie ma sensu przenosić się na jedną noc i jakoś przecierpimy... ;) Większość pobytu i tak spędzaliśmy poza hotelem. Jeszcze muszę wspomnieć śniadanie bo było to najgorsze kontynentalne śniadanie jakie kiedykolwiek jadłam: tosty i dżem. A raczej sok, bo w jednorazówkach z ‘dżemem’ po otwarciu okazało się że zawartośc bardziej przypomina sok niż dżem, i koło dżemu to nawet nie stało...
Another May Bank Holiday weekend and we decided to visit Barcelona.
I booked the hotel about 5 months before arrival and I paid it in full then. The hotel I booked was Hotel Comercio, not far from popular Las Ramblas. When we got there we were told that they have no rooms available (?!) but they have a space for us in their other hotel (the same owner and both hotels are within short walk from each other). We didn’t like it but had no choice and went to Hotel Roma Reial. The hotel is nicely located in the Placa Reial, very interesting spot so we liked the location, and that’s about it what we liked about the hotel. The problem was the room... very small and there was a very small window that looked out onto some sort of a shat - 3 walls around and all covered with a glass from the top. No fresh air whatsoever and no views. We asked to change the room but they had no rooms available for this night but had some for the next day. We decided that as we stay there only 2 nights, there was no point in switching the rooms for 1 night so we accepted the fact and somehow survived... ;) We spent most of the time outside the hotel anyway. And I also had to mention the breakfast as it was the worst continental breakfast I’d ever had: toasts and jam. Well, jam was more like a juice because when we opened the small containers the contents looked more like juice, far from jam or marmalade of any type…
Placa Reial to plac przy którym znajdował się nasz hotel (jedyny plus tego hotelu to lokalizacja). Plac bardzo ładny, szczególnie w słoneczny dzień. Któregoś dnia nawet odbywał sie tam jakiegoś rodzaju targ książkowy.
Placa Reial is the square where our hotel was (the only positive thing about the hotel was its location). The square is really nice, especially on a sunny day. One day there also was some sort of books market.
W pierwszy dzień zwiedzania pospacerowaliśmy trochę po okolicy oglądając głownie Las Ramblas (rzut kamieniem od Placa Reial), pomnik Kolumba i Port Vell.
On the first day of sightseeing we had a walk through Las Ramblas (stone’s throw from Placa Reial), we saw the Columbus Monument and some of the yachts in the Port Vell.
Moment od Placa Reial znajduje się słynna ulica Las Ramblas, 1.2km długa, łącząca Placa Catalunya z pomnikiem Kolumba w porcie Port Vell.
Las Ramblas to popularna turystyczna atrakcja, bardzo ładna ulica, wysadzana drzewami po obu stronach, zawsze zatłoczona, z masą straganów sprzedających wszystko od pamiątek po papugi czy kury. Do tego dochodzi mnóstwo mimów zwracających na siebie czasem sporą uwagę, mistrzowsko wcielając się w swój charakter.
Just round the corner from Placa Reial, there is the popular street Las Ramblas, 1.2km long, connecting Placa Catalunya with the Columbus Monument in Port Vell.
Las Ramblas is a very popular tourist spot, a very nice street, with trees lined on both sides, always crowded, and always full of street vendors selling everything from souvenirs to birds or chickens. Plus there are a lot of mime performers always doing their performances really well, and drawing attention of every passer by.
Barcelona Aquarium zaliczyliśmy aby tradycji stało się zadość. Okazało się jednym z najciekawszych i najfaniej zorganizowanych oceanariów które do tej pory zwiedziliśmy. Jest bardzo ładnie urządzone, z tunelami podwodnym i mniejszymi jaki wielkimi zbiornikami. Widzieliśmy tam trochę stworów, których nie widzieliśmy wcześniej w żadnych innych akwariach, na przykład akwarium pełne mątw, krewetki modliszkowe (mantis prawns), ośmiornice czy też bardzo ładne i żadko spotykane koniki morskie wyglądające jak rośliny (dragon seahorse).
Barcelona Aquarium had to be visited so to keep up with our tradition of visiting aquaria wherever there is one where we are. This one is very well organised and maintained, with underwater tunnels, smaller and bigger tanks. There were some creatures we had never seen before anywhere else, for example a tank full of cuttlefish, mantis prawns, octopuses and very beautiful and rarely seen dragon seahorses, that look like plants.

Przez resztę pobytu jeździlismy wycieczkowym busem, na górnym piętrze z otwartym dachem i podziwialiśmy miasto. Zobaczyliśmy prawie wszystkie ważniejsze zakątki Barcelony. W pierwszy dzień wysiadaliśmy przy co ciekawszych atrakcjach aby je dłużej popodziwiać i porobić zdjęcia. W drugi dzień, po wymeldowaniu z hotelu, nie chciało nam się chodzić za bardzo więc jeździliśmy głównie autobusem, i czas do odlotu samolotu nam zlecia dosyć szybko.
For the rest of our stay we were riding on a city sightseeing bus, on the top open deck and we admired the city from up there. We saw almost every single tourist attraction in Barcelona. During the first day of riding we got off at the more interesting spots to admire for longer and take photos. On the last day, after checking out from the hotel, we didn’t feel like walking so we stayed on the bus most of the time, so the time passed by really quickly before our departure.
Sagrada Familia to najpopularniejszy i najczęściej odwiedzany zabytek w Barcelonie. Jest to rzymsko-katolicki kościół/bazylika zaprojektowany przez Antoni Gaudi, do dziś nie skończony, ale nadal prace wykończeniowe nad nim trwają tyle że nie wiadomo kiedy się skończą. Budynek robi spore wrażenie szczególnie z bliska ze względu na sporo szczegółów, symboli i postaci występujących w ścianach budynku. Nie zwiedzaliśmy bazyliki od środka ze względu na spore tłumy. Woleliśmy się skupić na podziwianiu jej od zewnątrz.
Sagrada Familia is the most popular and most visited building in Barcelona. It is a Roman-Catholic church/basilica designed by Antoni Gaudi, still not finished, but the works on finishing it continue and no one knows for sure when it will eventually be finished. The building is really impressive and there are a lot of details, symbols and persons so it looks even better from close up. We didn’t go inside because of the crowds, so we focused on admiring it from the outside.
Park Guell to kolejne dzieło Gaudi'ego. Jest to duży kompleks parkowo-ogrodowy wyglądający jak z bajki. Właściwie to wszystkie konstrukcje i dzieła Gaudi’ego wyglądają jak nie z tej bajki. Od razu na wjeściu do parku stoją dwa ciekawe, śmieszne i nietypowe domy jakby wyciągnięte z bajki o Jasiu i Małgosi, a przy głównej bramie słynny mozaikowy smok-jaszczur.
Park Guell is another Gaudi’s work. It’s a big park/garden complex that looks a bit like from a fairy tale. Actually all Gaudi’s works look like from fairy tales. At the entrance to the park there are two funny, interesting and unusual buildings as if taken out of Hansel and Gretel, and there is a famous mosaic dragon-like lizard by the main gate.
Na głównym placu parku, Gran Placa Circular, znajdują się jedna wielka kolorowa ceramiczna serpentynowa ‘ławka’ biegnąca dookoła całego placu. Jest to najdłuższa ławka na świecie. Plac podpiera 86 doryckich kolumn które tworzą hall znany jako Sala Hipostila. Park znajduje się na wzgórzu więc widać stąd panoramę całego miasta aż po port i horyzont.
The main plaza of the park - Gran Placa Circular - is bordered by the colourful ceramin seprentine bench that twists around the whole plaza. It is known as the largest bench in the world. The whole platform is supported by 86 huge columns creating a hall underneath known as Sala Hipostila. The park is situated on a hill so there are spectacular views of the city as far as the sea and the horizon.
Kolejne popularne ciekawostki Barcelony to oczywiście dzieła Gaudiego, dwa domy:
Casa Mila (La Pedrera) i Casa Batllo. Gaudi starał się unikać linii prostych i kątów, więc oba domy wyglądają jak z bajki, i mają nieregularne okna czy balkony.

Barcelona jest bardzo ładnym miastem, głównie dzięki Gaudiemu jako, że większość najpopularniejszych turystycznych miejsc w mieście to są arcydzieła Gaudiego. Najwięcej można zobaczyć wskakując w autobus wycieczkowy jeżdżący różnymi trasami, polecam szczególnie jeśli pobyt jest krótki. Miasto ma swój unikalny charakter ale dla mnie Rzym był ciekawszy ;)
Barcelona is a very beautiful and attractive city, mainly thanks to Gaudi and his works, as these are the most popular spots there. The most of the city you can see while taking the city sightseeing bus on different routes, what I recommend especially if you are here with a short visit. Barcelona has got its own unique character but I think Rome was much more interesting ;)
